Sanada emerges victorious because Hasshi throws ‘ladybug.’<\/p>\n
“But ladybugs eat paper!” Hasshi whines. <\/p>\n
“Ladybug is not an option, and I hereby declare you the loser of janken forever!” Sanada snaps, rubbing his temples. “God, no wonder the senpai keep sticking things in your mouth!”<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hey!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi pouts, and Sanada just clicks his tongue in disgust because that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the other reason the senpai keep sticking things in his mouth. <\/p>\n
The pout evaporates after a second, though, because Sanada points out that as Leader, Hasshi would have to focus on the good of the group rather than whether or not his hair was curling properly in the back. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153And we definitely can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t put you<\/i> in charge of that,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi agrees, giving Sanada\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s head a significant look.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Stop that, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s nothing wrong with my hair,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sanada says, but he puts a hand up to feel before he can stop himself, and Hasshi just whistles innocently at his glare. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153At any rate, the next thing we need is\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
At that exact moment, Koyama-senpai bustles into the warm-up, shoving a terrified-looking Nozawa-kun in front of him. He draws to a halt right in front of Sanada and Hasshi, and gives Nozawa a little shove forward. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6a replacement for Kamei,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sanada finishes. Hasshi hums a little, looking Nozawa over, and Nozawa stares at his sneakers. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153You three will be singing as a trio for this filming!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Koyama-senpai announces, giving them a big smile. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You all know each other, right? You\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll definitely get along!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he continues without waiting for an answer. <\/p>\n
Just then, they are interrupted by Takada nearly knocking all of them down as he runs past, screaming at the top of his lungs. Right behind him is Shintarou, brandishing a baton and hollering some sort of war cry, and behind Shintarou is Taiga, who gives Koyama a panicked and pleading expression as he dashes by, snatching in vain at the back of Shintarou\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fuchsia jacket. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Um, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be right back,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Koyama says, and then takes off after the tinier, more violent juniors. <\/p>\n
Sanada and Hasshi look Nozawa up and down some more, and Nozawa continues to stare at his shoes. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not really what I had in mind,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi says finally, but when Nozawa\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shoulders slump a little, he hurries to add, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153but it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s okay! It could be worse!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Sanada punches Hasshi in the shoulder, then says a much more polite, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hello,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d to Nozawa. He waits a beat, getting no response, before asking, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You talk, right? I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve seen you talking.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yes.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Nozawa lifts his head just enough to peek at them, and jumps when he finds Hasshi leaning in to examine him closely. He clears his throat and mumbles a shy, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Please take care of me.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s cute,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi reports to Sanada in satisfaction. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153But not too<\/i> cute. Let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s keep him!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Hasshi beams at Nozawa, who looks confused and a little bedazzled, and Sanada tells Nozawa that he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll probably be stuck with them for a bit. <\/p>\n
A bit later, when Nozawa tells them that what they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re singing together is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153LIPS,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s face lights up like fireworks, Sanada wonders exactly who is stuck with who. <\/p>\n

Nozawa, as it turns out, is indeed the responsible one. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hard to tell at first, since his reluctance to go along with Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s every half-baked notion could be shyness or dislike or even self-preservation, so it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ages later on the Hi! Hey! Say! set before Sanada knows for sure. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Nozawa says when Hasshi goes to dash thoughtlessly after Hikaru-kun, and his voice is soft as usual, but he catches the back of Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s collar, and Hasshi turns, head cocked like a confused puppy. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I was just\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi starts, but Nozawa shakes his head. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I think they want to be alone for a bit,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Nozawa says, and Hasshi glances from Hikaru-kun to Yabu-kun, leaving the stage in opposite directions, neither one of them saying anything to either bandmates or crew as they disappear into the bustle. Sanada understands then, and gives Nozawa a thoughtful glance for having seen it right away. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Because of the song,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sanada helps explain when Hasshi goes on staring at them. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Ikujinashi?\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi asks, looking even more puzzled. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153But why? It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a good song! And it turned out really well, didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t it?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d He starts to look nervous when the others don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t respond right away. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t it?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153But it isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t their song, Hasshi,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Nozawa tries again, still in that same patient, soft voice. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153How would you feel if Takaki-kun sang \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcBack in Time\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 without you? \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Oh.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi chews on that for a few seconds, and Sanada realizes that it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the first time Nozawa\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s used Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s nickname instead of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcHashimoto-kun.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Hasshi offers Nozawa a sheepish smile. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I think I get it now. Nozawa wrinkles his nose at the nickname, which makes Hasshi give an immediate shout of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153CUTE!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and Sanada hopes that Nozawa doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mind being called that forever. <\/p>\n

Sanada doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t see the first time Hasshi kisses Nozawa, but he knows exactly when it happens. Before break everything is normal, and after they return from the vending machine, Nozawa is pink-faced, tripping over himself, and refusing to look anybody in the eye. <\/p>\n
Sanada sighs, because he was really hoping it would take Hasshi longer to figure out how to incapacitate the responsible one, and pulls Hasshi aside for a talk. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153You can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t do things like that!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sanada scolds. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You have to think!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sanadaaaaa,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi whines, fidgety since he can see others dancing but isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t himself in motion. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153No, it isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t fair to Nozawa.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sanada crosses his arms and refuses to let Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pout have its way. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Because you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re just screwing around, and I know you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mean anything when you play like that, but I think Nozawa\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a crash as Nozawa takes several tiny juniors to the ground along with him, and Sanada grits his teeth. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Look, you can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tease him like that.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Sanada feels his heart skip every time schedules are handed out or posted, always aware that they aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t really a unit yet, even a junior unit, always afraid that their names won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be side-by-side when he finds them. <\/p>\n
But Summary schedules are out, and so far so good. Sanada thinks that maybe he can stop worrying, just for a little while. Especially when they get a look at the tour goods and they have their own photoset. Along with some other goods.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s my face,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Nozawa murmurs, holding his own uchiwa and staring at it like he can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t make any sense of what he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s seeing. Sanada laughs, because he kind of feels the same, and because Hasshi is practicing kissing with his own uchiwa. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Stop it, you freak,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he tells Hasshi, kicking at his leg, but Hasshi just grins at the interruption and goes for Sanada\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s uchiwa instead, lips puckered. Sanada fends him off and whacks him on the head with it, and Hasshi turns to a Nozawa, who proves to be a much easier target. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153But, um,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Nozawa says after Hasshi has been distracted by some of the senpai coming in and has run off to show them his uchiwa. Sanada looks up to find Nozawa staring at his own, now defiled, uchiwa. Nozawa is chewing on his lower lip. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll they do when Kamei comes back?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s something Sanada and Hasshi talk about, sometimes, when they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re alone and sharing a hotel room or waiting for the train, sometimes when it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s dark and quiet and lonely even with the two of them sitting shoulder to shoulder. Hasshi seems like he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s getting to the point where he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s accepted the fact that Kamei probably isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t coming back, and they talk about it less often, recently. <\/p>\n
But now Sanada realizes that maybe they should have been talking to Nozawa too. <\/p>\n
When Sanada doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t answer right away, Nozawa looks up, and the expression on his face reminds Sanada powerfully of the day that Koyama dropped him off in front of them, nervous and lonely and just enough hope to break Sanada\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s heart. <\/p>\n
He drops his uchiwa with a clatter and grabs Nozawa, pulling them tight together in a fierce hug. Nozawa\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s uchiwa is dangling at his side, but his other hand comes up to grip the back of Sanada\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shirt. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153If Kamei comes back,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sanada growls, and he can feel the hitch of Nozawa\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s chest against his own, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153he can find his own unit.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s another soft clatter and then two hands twisting tight in the back of Sanada\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shirt, and shit, Sanada hadn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t meant to say something that was even more dangerous than Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s scattershot kisses.<\/p>\n
But maybe, he thinks with Nozawa\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s heart pounding against his own, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s okay to be hopeful sometimes, even if you are a jyannis. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hey,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hasshi bounces back up to them, oblivious and high on senpai hair-rufflings, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153are we having a group hug? Let me in!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Nozawa lets go of Sanada with one hand to hold it up for Hasshi, and Hasshi drops his own uchiwa on top of both of theirs without a second though before wriggling under Nozawa\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s arm and getting arms around both of their waists. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Not so tight,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sanada grumbles, because Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s muscles aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t just for show, but Hasshi only squeezes them tighter, and when Sanada sees the look of concentration on Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s face, he thinks that maybe Hasshi isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t totally<\/i> oblivious.<\/p>\n
Nozawa leans up on tiptoe and kisses Hasshi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s check, and Hasshi flushes bright red, mouth in a shocked \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcO\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 as he stares at Nozawa\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shy smile. <\/p>\n
