Comfort Object<\/b><\/p>\n
Not that the other would remember, because Miyadate sleeps like the dead, but Watanabe had barely slept at all after their first time. He’d spent the whole night worried sick that he’d just ruined their friendship with sex, trying to soothe himself to sleep with his ear pressed to Miyadate’s heartbeat and failing miserably. <\/p>\n
In the morning, when Miyadate had finally stirred and blinked at him blearily, the only reason that Watanabe hadn’t immediately demanded that they never do it again was that the words stuck in his throat. Miyadate only grinned like an idiot. <\/p>\n
“Wow. I want to wake up next to you like this every morning.” And then Miyadate finally seemed to notice Watanabe’s expression. “What’s wrong?”<\/p>\n
“Nothing,” Watanabe had said quickly, ducking his head to press his face against Miyadate’s shoulder. His worries seemed so silly when Miyadate looked at him like that, eyes full of adoration. Watanabe’s throat closed up and he felt so stupid. He managed to choke out, “I couldn’t sleep.”<\/p>\n
“Did I keep you up? I’m sorry,” Miyadate asked, but Watanabe shook his head. “Honestly. It’s fine, just lie here with me, okay? We don’t have to be up for a couple hours.” Miyadate heaved a contented sigh, making Watanabe rise and fall with it. “Or we could just stay right here. I’m really happy here right now, with you.”<\/p>\n
“Me too,” Watanabe said, feeling lighter. Miyadate always knew how to say exactly the right thing without even trying. <\/p>\n
Miyadate had stroked Watanabe’s hair until Watanabe had finally fallen asleep, worries brushed aside by Miyadate’s gentle touch. <\/p>\n
Napping with his head in Miyadate’s lap is still one of Watanabe’s favorite places to be, Miyadate’s fingers running through his hair, sometimes tracing the shell of his ear or the curve of his neck. The others tease him about what he’s doing all night rather than sleeping, but Watanabe only laughs or sometimes snores hugely. <\/p>\n
“It isn’t like you guys don’t know,” Miyadate retorts, scrunching Watanabe’s hair more seriously. “Half of you have seen it for yourself.” A chorus of groans sounds around them, and Watanabe laughs until his stomach hurts. <\/p>\n
“Hey,” Watanabe says when he calms down, flopping onto his back so that he can look up into Miyadate’s face. <\/p>\n
“Hm?” Miyadate asks, brushing Watanabe’s mussed bangs out of his eyes. <\/p>\n
“I’m really happy here right now, with you.” Watanabe smiles, but he means it seriously. He doesn’t mind if Miyadate laughs at him, which is good because that’s exactly what Miyadate does. <\/p>\n
“What’s that about?” Miyadate asks. Watanabe just shrugs. “Mm, well, good. Because I’m really happy too.”<\/p>\n
The others groan and catcall when Watanabe sits up and leans in for a sweet, lingering kiss, but Miyadate grins against his mouth and wraps arms tight around him, and honestly that’s the only thing in the whole world that either one of them cares about.<\/p>\n
