Bought Affections<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re gonna like him a hell of a lot less when he pees on you,\u201d Roxas commented, glancing up from his laptop. He was curled up on one side of the couch, trying to type 500 words about Twilight Town local history. Lea was slumped in the center of the couch, down low enough that Sea Salt the guinea pig was sitting on his chest. <\/p>\n
\u201cShut up, we\u2019re bonding,\u201d Lea said. Both his and the guinea pig\u2019s eyes were glued to the TV in a fairly identical way, Lea crunching on handfuls of popcorn just like Sea Salt was crunching a carrot stick. Usually Roxas got both guinea pigs out at the same time, but the more daredevil Elixir had been banished back to the cage for crimes including swan-diving off the couch and attempted controller cord chewing. <\/p>\n
Sea Salt, meanwhile, seemed perfectly happy to laze around on Lea\u2019s chest and watch TV. An explosion on TV made Lea laugh at the same time as Sea Salt purred. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou guys are spending too much time together,\u201d Roxas said, rolling his eyes. <\/p>\n
\u201cAww, jealous your guinea pig likes me best?\u201d Lea smirked. \u201cHe can\u2019t help it he\u2019s a pig of impeccable tastes.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGet bent.\u201d Roxas stretched out a foot to kick at Lea\u2019s hip, but Lea caught his ankle with surprisingly quick reflexes. Roxas tried to shake him off and couldn\u2019t. \u201cLeggo, jerk.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lea did not let go, thumb rubbing idly against Roxas\u2019s ankle, gritty with popcorn salt. \u201cI\u2019m not the jerk, you\u2019re the jerk, kicking me. Write your paper, nerd. I want to go eat before I die and at the speed you type, that\u2019s not a sure bet.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roxas grumbled a retort under his breath that Lea didn\u2019t bother to argue about. It wasn\u2019t his fault typing with fingers was so much slower than using his thumbs on his Gummiphone! Two sentences later, a glance at the bottom of the page informed him that he was still a solid two hundred words short of his word count minimum. How the heck was he supposed write this many words about trams?<\/p>\n
Groaning, Roxas pushed the lid of his laptop closed and slumped down further onto his back. \u201cI quit.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt can\u2019t be that bad,\u201d Lea soothed, squeezing Roxas\u2019s ankle. Roxas made an aggravated noise. \u201cOk, ok, we\u2019ll go ride the tram for real life inspiration, as soon as this episode is over. C\u2019mere, you\u2019re missing the good fight banter.\u201d<\/p>\n
Setting the laptop out of harm\u2019s way on the coffee table, Roxas shifted to flop in the other direction, cheek against Lea\u2019s shoulder. Sea Salt looked up from the last few bits of his carrot with interest, but only blinked at him when Roxas reached up to pat him. When Lea used his free hand to ruffle Sea Salt\u2019s fur casually, Sea Salt purred, stretching his front feet out. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou traitor, you\u2019re supposed to like me best,\u201d Roxas informed him. \u201cI\u2019m the one who feeds you and cleans your cage, and all this idiot does is watch TV with you.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou really are jealous,\u201d Lea laughed, ruffling Roxas\u2019s hair the same way. \u201cDon\u2019t take it too hard, I bought his affections with fresh produce. Guinea pigs are simple little guys, cute but not geniuses.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI guess it takes one to know one,\u201d Roxas teased.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t get too smug, buddy,\u201d Lea said. \u201cWhat do you think I was doing with all those popsicles?\u201d <\/p>\n
