\nAN<\/b>: Written for Shiritori, this follows Think Twice, the AU where Sora doesn’t get a keyblade and stays on Destiny Islands while Riku goes out to do Keyblade stuff. <\/p>\n
Wonderland is the Bullshit Option<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cHim?\u201d Riku glanced over his shoulder, at Goofy showing Sora a map of the nearest rings of worlds. Sora caught Riku looking and gave him a half-smile. Riku smiled back before turning back to Donald and the Gummi ship dashboard. \u201cHe\u2019s fine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s something, all right,\u201d Donald said.<\/p>\n
\u201cGive him a chance,\u201d Riku said. Donald rolled an unimpressed eye up at him. \u201cYou two are going to get along so well, you don\u2019t even know. You\u2019re both\u2026sassy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cUh-huh. Maybe I wouldn\u2019t be so sassy,\u201d Donald made air quotes, \u201cif I didn\u2019t waste a whole day coming to pick you up from your middle of nowhere world only to be a third wheel on your date escape!\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t be silly, you\u2019ve got Goofy!\u201d Riku said, pumping some false cheer into it. \u201cIt\u2019s more like a double date.\u201d Donald scowled. \u201cWatch it with that face, I hear this ship runs on smiles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Donald had a few choice, unintelligible words to say about that before waving Riku off. \u201cGo ask lover boy where we\u2019re going so I can get this over with. I\u2019m not a chauffeur!\u201d<\/p>\n
Laughing to himself, Riku left Donald to it and crossed over to Sora and Goofy. Sora didn\u2019t look especially tense or shy, but as soon as Riku was standing close enough, Sora stepped in to press closer against his side. Riku put a reassuring arm around his waist. \u201cWhat are we looking at?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGoofy was showing me how the map screen works,\u201d Sora said. \u201cYou\u2019ve been to so many worlds! But if I touch it, I\u2019ll definitely break it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNaw.\u201d Goofy waved Sora off as he reset the map to center on the Gummi Ship\u2019s current location. \u201cIf it were that easy, Riku woulda broken it first thing! This whole ship\u2019s been islander-proofed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHey!\u201d Riku protested as Sora muffled a giggle. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll just check on a few things, give you two some alone time\u2026\u201d Goofy gave Riku a showy wink before turning to go cheerfully on his way. <\/p>\n
\u201cOh my god,\u201d Riku muttered, hoping Donald hadn\u2019t heard that. Sora was still laughing, muffled against Riku\u2019s shoulder. \u201cDon\u2019t encourage him! He already likes playing big brother way too much.\u201d Sora grinned up at Riku, shamelessly enjoying himself; something had to be done about that. \u201cI\u2019ll tell him you haven\u2019t had the talk yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat? No!\u201d Sora gasped, scrunching up his face. <\/p>\n
\u201cI had to suffer through it, somebody else should have to,\u201d Riku grumbled. Even Donald would have been better, Riku thought but didn\u2019t dare say out loud, because then half of it wouldn\u2019t have been understandable. \u201cSo did you pick a world you want to visit?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, I don\u2019t know anything about it,\u201d Sora said, voice returning to that vague, light tone Riku was developing a particular dislike of. \u201cAnything\u2019s different than the Islands, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, no, you\u2019re picking,\u201d Riku said firmly. Sora clicked his tongue and Riku ignored it. \u201cBut in the interests of helping you narrow it down, I can offer you a few pre-selected choices, catered to your personal interests.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAll right,\u201d Sora said. \u201cLet\u2019s hear it, if you think you know me so well.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst choice,\u201d Riku reached out to tap on the Land of Dragons world icon, \u201cis the Land of Dragons, famous for fireworks, snowy mountains, and traditional dumplings.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHmm,\u201d Sora tilted his head. \u201cWhat else you got?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThought I\u2019d get you with those dumplings, but ok.\u201d Riku flicked Land of Dragons back down into its place and tapped Twilight Town instead. \u201cTwilight Town is the romantic\u2019s choice, with Sunset Terrace, dinner at Le Grand Bistrot, and a classic movie at a charming outdoor theater or, for the more daring, a visit to a haunted mansion.\u201d Riku gave his voice a spooky waver, like a melodramatic radio ad.<\/p>\n
\u201cFuck off,\u201d Sora laughed, giving Riku a shove. \u201cIt\u2019s not really haunted is it? You would never.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal legend says,\u201d Riku said. Sora shook his head, snorting softly. \u201cOk, ok, you want one more? You want one more.\u201d Another flick minimized Twilight Town, and Riku tapped one more orb. \u201cThe weirdo\u2019s choice: Wonderland. Talking flowers, flamingo croquet, one very stoned caterpillar, and drinks that might make you taller than me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMake me what?\u201d Sora burst out laughing. <\/p>\n
\u201cFor a VERY limited time!\u201d Riku talked over him. \u201cJust a brief window into how awesome it is to be your very tall, very cool boyfriend, but you\u2019re probably not interested in\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat one, that one!\u201d Sora interrupted. <\/p>\n
\u201cReally?\u201d Riku laughed; he\u2019d honestly just thrown Wonderland in as a bullshit option. <\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, really. I want to see the absolute weirdest stuff you\u2019ve got, prove you aren\u2019t lying about magic and key swords and squishy shadow guys and those\u2026\u201d Sora\u2019s nose scrunched as he tried to remember the word he wanted. \u201cThe fuzzy white guys who sell you junk?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMoogles,\u201d Riku supplied. \u201cYou want to meet a Moogle? Done, those guys are everywhere. Get you a promotional postcard to add to your collection. I can\u2019t believe you\u2019re turning down Le Grand Bistrot for this, you\u2019re a cheap date.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s me, cheap and easy,\u201d Sora agreed. He stretched up to his toes to kiss Riku\u2019s cheek. \u201cSmall town guy, doesn\u2019t take much.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t say stuff like that,\u201d Riku scolded, turning to hug Sora properly. \u201cI bet the Bistro can\u2019t make a smoothie half as good as you.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAw, that\u2019s sweet,\u201d Sora said, letting Riku squeeze him a few seconds longer before wriggling free, glancing over his shoulder at Donald. \u201cBut like a total lie, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir smoothies are insanely delicious,\u201d Riku admitted. \u201cAnd their brunch, and their desserts. Everything they make is. The chef\u2019s some kind of reclusive genius, I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cColor me intrigued.\u201d Sora reached up to the map with Wonderland still enlarged. He hesitated with his hand just above the screen for a second before tapping on the waypoint checkbox. \u201cI\u2019ll have something to look forward to for next time.\u201d<\/p>\n
