\nSummary<\/b>: Changmin’s grumpy, and it has something to do with SHINee.
\nAN<\/b>: I was fairly displeased with the entire process of this fic, and I don’t even really want to repost it on the Nuna comm. Fail, mousie.<\/p>\n
Growing Pains<\/b><\/p>\n
Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been in a sour mood for a few days, but nobody pays much attention to him. After all, mood swings are common during growth spurts. Nobody used to bat an eye when Yoochun burst into tears if someone squashed a spider, Jaejoong got up at 3 am to bake bread, or Junsu threw whoever was least dressed up against the nearest horizontal or vertical surface. Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s had a rougher growth spurt than most, and if he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s cranky (as well as exhausted and starving), that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s to be expected. <\/p>\n
Likewise, nobody thinks much of it on this particular day when Changmin delivers a scathing commentary about the state of each of their fashion senses, then sticks Yoochun\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s earbuds in his ears and sulks in his chair, refusing to talk to anybody else while they have their makeup done. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been easy to style since his growth spurt ended, hasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t he?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d one of the stylists casually remarks to another, and Jaejoong and Yunho exchange looks.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been a good six months,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the other stylist agrees. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Fuck,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d says Jaejoong, and the stylist thwaps him on the head with her comb, used to Jaejoong\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s foul-mouthed ways, but both stylists startle a little when Yunho repeats it on the other side. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hey,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong asks Yoochun in their room that night, the first time he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s had a moment to either think or talk to his roommate all day. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Have you noticed Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been in a bad mood lately?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Yoochun, who is lying on his stomach and reading a magazine, looks up with a raised eyebrow. Jaejoong\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fingers twitch with the desire to find out whether it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a copy of Seventeen<\/i> so he can call Yoochun an insufferable girl. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You only just noticed?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Changmin has lots of moods!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong protests dramatically, then flops on his bed when Yoochun turns back to his magazine, unimpressed. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Do you know what it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s about?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yup,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yoochun answers. <\/p>\n
After a few seconds, Jaejoong turns to glare at Yoochun. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153And?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Since you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re so smart,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yoochun flips another page, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m sure you can figure it out.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hey,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong corners Yunho in the hallway, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Changmin hates SHINee.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho frowns. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Did he tell you that?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yoochun did.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong thumbs behind him, to where a disheveled Yoochun is straggling down the hall behind Jaejoong, trying to smooth the puff of his hair back down. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Did Changmin tell you that?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho wants to know, and Yoochun rolls his eyes.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153How can you two not know?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yoochun demands, then looks down and snorts with disgust as he realizes his shirt is buttoned two buttons off. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153That can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be it,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho says as Jaejoong undoes all of Yoochun\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s buttons and begins straightening him all out. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Why would he\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Feel free to ask him,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yoochun says, looking over Yunho\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shoulder and seeing Changmin looming towards them like a thundercloud. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Minnie-ah,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong calls, ignoring Yunho\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pointed look, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153do you really hate SHINee?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s eyes narrow. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Who told you that?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yoochun did,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong and Yunho say in chorus, and Yoochun darts behind Jaejoong\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shoulder as Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s sharp gaze rakes his way. <\/p>\n
Changmin is just opening his mouth to reply when Junsu dashes up the hallway from the living room, clutching a violently lime green cd case. He skids to a halt in front of them all, oblivious to the situation. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Have you guys listened to this yet?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Junsu demands, eyes bright with excitement. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Minho\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s amazing, and Taemin is soooo cute and\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Excuse me,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Changmin growls, shoving through the knot of everybody in the hallway and stomping down to one of the bedrooms. The other four blink at each other as the door slams. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153See?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yoochun pokes his head out from around Jaejoong. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I told you he hated SHINee.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Junsu gasps and clutches his cd most tightly to his chest, as though shielding the ears of the adorable dongsaeng on the cover. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153But,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s brow furrows even deeper, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153why? I thought Changmin got along with them when we met. And you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d think he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d like being the hyung for once.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153And they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re such cute dongsaeng too,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong puts in, a touch of purr in his voice as he reaches over to tug the cd free from Junsu\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hands and examines the cover. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153So young and impressionable\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I think that might be the problem right there,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yoochun suggests dryly. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Maybe if you didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t talk about them like that\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Like what?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Junsu and Jaejoong both tilt their heads. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Like SHINee is a pastry you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been dying to try.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Under Yoochun\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pointed gaze, Yunho looks a bit sheepish; Jaejoong and Junsu just grin. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Anyway,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho struggles to bring them back on track, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s that got to do with Changmin? He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been complaining for ages that they always treat him like the baby, and now that there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s actual babies\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a moment\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pause as everybody reaches the same conclusion. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ooooh,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d they all say.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Come on,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho sighs, and he turns to head to the recently slammed door, the others trailing behind. Yunho knocks on the door with the back of his knuckles. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Go away!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Changmin calls, sulk practically oozing under the door. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Changmin,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho starts, gearing up to be reasonable, but Jaejoong reaches around him to twist the doorknob, and then shoves Yunho through the door as soon as it was open. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Minnie-ah!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Junsu calls, bouncing onto Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bed and throwing arms around him in a smothering hug. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You know you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re our favorite dongsaeng, right?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Even if SHINee is littler,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong gets Changmin from the other side, squeezing until Changmin curses. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153And newer.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153And cuter,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Junsu adds in.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153And way more innocent,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong says. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Get off me, you freaks,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Changmin protests, having no success freeing himself from Junsu and Jaejoong\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s clutches. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What those two are trying to say,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho says, leaning in to push Junsu and Jaejoong back far enough that Changmin can breathe, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153is that even if they debut a hundred SHINees, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll still be your hyung first, okay? You don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have to be upset about it.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Nobody\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s upset,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Changmin grouses, but his scowl isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t nearly as sharp suddenly.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We love you, Minnie-ah!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Junsu crows, right in Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ear. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153You\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll always be DBSK\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s baby,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jaejoong croons, which is about the time that Changmin starts punching first and asking questions later. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Wow,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yoochun says idly, making the others turn to find him leafing through the booklet of Junsu\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s cd. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Taemin really is pretty sparkly. How come Changmin never\u00e2\u20ac\u201d\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Yoochun\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s voice cuts off in a squeak as the baby in question reaches over to fist a hand in Yoochun\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s still mis-buttoned shirt and yanks him down onto the bed. <\/p>\n

When DBSK and SHINee happen to pass in the hallway of SM, polite greetings are had all the way around, and when the two groups continue on in opposite directions, it isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t just Junsu who comes away with starry eyes. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yunho-hyung is so cool,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jonghyun sighs, And Onew looks like he wants to argue but can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t quite manage to do anything but grudgingly agree. Key keeps darting glances over his shoulder, and thus doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t notice when Minho comes to a sudden stop, and they all crash into each other with a series of grunts. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Where\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Taemin?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Minho asks, and the other three blink at one another before turning around.<\/p>\n
Taemin and Changmin are still standing in the middle of the hallway, Changmin eyeing Taemin up and down, Taemin beaming up at Changmin. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153You\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re not so sparkly,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Changmin finally announces, with the air of the lion who has decided that the mouse might prove useful at some later juncture, perhaps in a parallel universe. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I like you too, hyung!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Taemin chirps, giving Changmin the full force of his grin plus head tilt special combo, and then he skips off to join his group. <\/p>\n
Changmin is still standing in the middle of the hallway, staring at the spot where Taemin had been standing, when his own group comes to retrieve him. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I think I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m blind,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Changmin reports seriously. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t worry, Minnie-ah.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yunho pats Changmin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shoulder. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153When you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re a hyung, your retinas toughen up sooner or later.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
