Chaotic Butterfly (Mousapelli’s 2007 NaNo novel)
Summary: “Six weeks before the debut of Midareteku Entertainment’s newest band, Tsunami, a scandal sends the entire group to a rehab facility, removing them from the public eye and putting their single on hold. As a placeholder, CEO Matsumoto Koichi signs a new group to the label, 5*STAR, to begin promotional activities immediately for their debut single, STARSHINE. There’s just one problem: 5*STAR isn’t a band. Hired from the indie club scene, the modeling industry, and the adult film industry, along with two junior members of ME, 5*STAR is only supposed to be a distraction until Tsunami returns. For six weeks they’ll play the part of ME’s hottest new boyband, having photoshoots, magazine interviews, television appearances, filming a PV…for a single that doesn’t exist. But when Tsunami returns, will 5*STAR give up their meteoric popularity? Or will the newly-forged group fight back against ME from within? Only one thing’s for sure: 5*STAR plans to go SUPERNOVA. ”

Chaotic Butterfly: Unseen Wings (Mousapelli’s 2008 NaNo Novel)
Summary: 5*STAR is back. Eighteen months after the release of their single and their demotion to trainee status, the members continue on as regulars of Midareteku Entertainment. The summer’s shaping up to be more than a little bustling, with Tsukioka and Adachi starring in a summer drama, Sakurai writing the theme single and staging a solo concert, and Goto and Rin acting as fill-in MCs for Ichiband Weekly. Under all the stress, the members start to come apart at the seams, and struggle to find ways to stay strong as a unit when they’re scattered across Japan. Will 5*STAR burn out, or will they prove that stars under the most pressure shine the brightest? Either way, this summer things are sure to heat up!

Ways to own Chaotic Buttefly/Unseen Wings, 2nd Edition:
(note: you have a 2nd Edition if there’s a ‘Starshine Press’ logo on the spine)

1. Buy an ebook or a PDF from Smashwords (Cost: $4. Author gets ~$2. Lots of filetypes for Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader, and a bunch of others.)
2. Buy a hard copy from CreateSpace (Cost: $13+shipping. Author gets ~$3)
3. Buy a hard copy from Amazon (Cost: $13+shipping, eligible for super saver shipping. Author gets ~$0.50)
4. Download the PDF (cost: free.)

There isn’t any difference at all between these versions. Obviously if you wanted to drop a couple bucks at Smashwords because you like 5*STAR and it’s way cheaper than a hard copy, I’d appreciate it, but the free version is exactly the same for CB/UW.

Purely By Luck (Mousapelli’s 2009 NaNo Novel):
Sakurai Yuuichi is one of those guys who things just happen to. His audition with Midareteku Entertainment, his best friend, his high school, everything in Sakurai’s life seems to start out with a series of coincidences. When another junior leaves ME suddenly and Sakurai happens to be in the right place at the right time, his inclusion in the new unit 4leaf is just another twist of fate, so far as Sakurai is concerned. Takayama Kouji, on the other hand, doesn’t believe in luck or coincidence. It’s not an easy philosophy to sell when your best friend is Sakurai and your unit’s symbol is a four-leaf clover, but Kouji is determined to prove to Sakurai that they’re in control of their own destiny. Their bandmates aren’t much help, either. Kurosawa Hideki avoids deep thought even more religiously than 8:00 AM vocal practice, and Tsukioka Ryu is just there to dance. But as 4leaf gains popularity and adulthood looms for all four members, Sakurai and Kouji will have to balance their beliefs about chance and fate against the uncertainty of life in ME. Is their friendship destined to fall apart, or will they get a lucky break?
