“Misa is pretty, right?” Misa sighs, tapping her painted nails on the glass of the hotel room. Behind her, her black feathered wings and lolita-dress ribbons trailed sadly.

She didn’t really expect any response, since the only person in the room was Watari. Misa had been hoping to draw Raito out to a party with her–she was MisaMisa! She needed to put in appearances!–but Raito had just sent her away. Ryuzaki’s wide-eyed assertion that she looked like a bird at a formal event, even coming from underneath fuzzy black kitty ears, hadn’t really cheered her up either.

Even Matsuda was nowhere to be found, out running errands or doing research or some other pointless thing. Misa could have gone alone, but then people would just talk about her, and anyway, what fun was that? Better to stay here, where she could be close to Raito. Only a couple floors down, was still close, right?

There was a soft tap on her shoulder, and Misa turned away from the glass to find Watari offering her a glass of water.

“Misa is very pretty,” Watari assured, smiling in that gentle way he had, and Misa just couldn’t help but smile back. “It would be a shame to get so dressed up and not go anywhere, hmm?”

“Yes!” Misa’s smile got wider, and suddenly she felt much better. She stood up and shook out her skirts. “MisaMisa has to make appearances, after all!”
